Do you need carpets to keep good care of Yorkshire Terrier puppies?

i think he'll be okay. the whole first floor of my house has hardwood floors, and my dogs sometimes slide around when they're playing rough and running fast, but they hae never like slid into a walll or anything. they're happy.
