Is alcohol abuse the same as Alcoholism?? if not, Whats the difference?

I have had personal difficulties, but never missed work or didn't do my home responsibilities..i hardly had hangovers. I got into legal trouble(crashed car while under the influence, so DUI) but I do not crave it, I don't need it, I don't have any withdraw systomps.. I do have blackouts, which is the worst. I decided to quit, its the best decision.but I go to a consulor and she says i am alcoholic because I have blackouts..I don't think she is right..Should I just agree to disagree..I am going to AA meetings because I have to, but I found that they have been helpful, and thats why i decided to quit, so yea for that..What do you guys think??
