Is this appropriate while girls are around?

me and my friends go swimming almost every day and sometimes we just spontaneously decide to if a river is nearby or something. I'm 17 and most of the people i hang around with are about that age. So if we decide to suddenly go swimming without having previously planned it is it still ok to swim in my boxers if girls are there?
